An early example of an oak table with a zinc top by C.W.S of Enfield, London.
During the Second World War the British government under the consensus of King George VI, manufactured what came to be known as utility furniture. The scheme was designed to cope with the shortage and rationing of raw materials.
An important and early survivor of British 20th Century furniture, housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum London.
The table is stamped to the underside GR/VI, C.W.S Ltd 1942.
The table is strong and sturdy with no wobbles and set at the perfect height for a kitchen dining table or console.
