An extortionary pair of weathered Root wood armchairs made from teak wood.
Each chair is made from branches, roots and segments of the teak tree that are placed together to resemble an armchair seat. The large pieces of teak are held together by large six inch iron rods or nails.
Original root wood furniture from the 1960’s and 1970’s is scarce as much of it was lost to the elements when left outside for long periods of time in the wet and cold weather of the United Kingdom. Root Wood furniture is still made today especially within South East Asia but finding vintage teak chairs from the period is particularly difficult to source.
Teak is very hard wearing and these chairs would look just as good inside as they would outside!
Reassuringly heavy with no rocks or wobbles, full of character and originality.
This particular pair of chairs are an interior designers dream and possibly the only set we shall be lucky enough to offer within the collection.
Price is for the pair.
English, circa 1970.
