Large Bank of English Haberdashery Drawers

A commanding bank of haberdashery drawers from a department store in the north of England.

The counter is made up of twelve large smooth-running drawers with original embossed cast handles.

The countertop is made of a large section of thick oak and is completed with two original brass yard rules, used for measuring cloth.

The oak frame is solid with no splits or cracks to the original panelled back and plinth base.

This bank of drawers is particularly rare in length and this is the first example Pointers Antiques has seen of this calibre. Cabinets of this size were often cut down when they were deemed unfashionable or too bulky for secondary use.

This cabinet would look wonderful in an unfitted kitchen or within a bar/restaurant setting.

This piece has been fully restored by our workshop for use in the domestic setting, we have kept the original colour and just applied a light wax.

Please note that the castors seen in the images were for easy manoeuvrability of the item within the warehouse and are not part of the piece.

A rare survivor and very possibly our favourite acquisition from the past twelve months.
