Italian Walnut Grotto Stool

An exceptional and rare 19th century adjustable Grotto stool in walnut.

The chair features a large, scalloped shell-shaped backrest, hand-carved and finished with gentle scrolls to each side of the seat.

The seat has a rotating mechanism attached to a  gadrooned and turned baluster stem and tripod base finished with turned feet.

The colour and texture of this piece is particularly beautiful and remains in the original silver-grey colour finish.

In the Venetian  and Florentine style of the period that exudes the style and effortless glamour reminiscent of the time.

Fine Italian grotto furniture is getting increasingly harder to find in good useable condition. This piece would be the centre point of any interior design project and ready for every day use.
