Comedian Harmonists Original Poster

A vintage original Comedian Harmonists Poster by the German artist Freidl.

This lithograph two colour poster is for the all-male German harmony ensemble ‘Comedian Harmonists’  advertised on Odeon Records.

The group made up of six members was enormously successful in Germany between 1928-1934. The singers performed renditions of popular songs and reworked American classics written by artists of the era. Due to Nazi repression, the group was disbanded due to three of the six members being Jewish whilst another member had a Jewish wife.  After fleeing to the United States they were unable to stay due to visa restrictions and the group had to disband.

A rare item of pre-second world war musical memorabilia. Professionally framed and matted in ultraviolet protective glass with an acid-free mount.
