A charming late 19th century wool sampler display case by Horrockses, Miller and Co. of Lancashire.
The glazed ebonised case displays a selection of cotton and original textile samples which have been carefully mounted and labelled with printed cards.
The case retains the original gilt lettering on top of the case that reads Horrockses, Miller and Co. Preston.
Display cases such as this beautiful example were used within the companies showrooms and at exhibitions and trade fairs to show the quality of the products that were being manufactured.
Victorian Sampler display cases are not only important historical documents, they also offer an elegant and highly decorative antique focal point.
English, circa 1890.
