A 19th century extendable gilders wheel in elm on a T shaped base.
The thick top is made from a single piece of elm with a turned base with fine line detailing. The top has an iron mechanism that allows the wheel to turn 360 degrees.
The base with a grip iron work handle allows the iron pole to be extended if necessary and locked into place whilst work is being completed on the wheel.
The T shaped base gives a strong and sturdy solution to the wheel and complemented on turned bun feet.
In excellent condition with superb colour and grain throughout.
A special item for a potter or sculptor or to be repurposed as a unique occasional table or wine table.
It is very unlikely that we shall see another in such superb condition.
English, circa 1880.
