A monumental church clockface from a chapel in northern France.
The dial on the face is hand-painted in black, white, and red, the original colours fading over time to create the most wonderful patina.
This particular clock face was removed from a chapel clock tower at the beginning of World War I and put into storage so it would not be stolen or damaged during the war. The clock face was thought to be lost until it was discovered recently at a chateau in France.
The clock is a wonderful piece of history, with fully working original clock hands featuring new high-torque quartz movement.
France, circa 1860.
