Eastern European Marriage Cupboard

A splendid painted pine armoire or marriage cupboard in the folk art tradition.

Marriage cupboards were gifted to young married couples on their wedding day and frequently offered by their families to commemorate the special day.

Beautifully painted with symmetrical flowers and fruits and swirling motifs throughout. The colour scheme used on this armoire is particularly beautiful and vibrant.

In beautiful worn and non restored condition with original hinges and locks and a paneled back all raised on bun feet.

This particular armoire is smaller in size than most examples making it perfect for a guest room or children’s bedroom.
