Art Deco Velvet Sofa

A commanding Art Deco sofa in a rich navy blue upholstery.

The sofa has a high back and large shapely column arms with pleated fronts that complement the deep and generous seat. The sofa is raised on five oak feet and finished with brass castors. The castors can be removed easily if the sofa needs to lie flat on the floor as desired.

The sofa has been fully restored, stripped back to the solid oak frame for upholstery with a new coil spring base, with hessian lining and calico coverings added. Before being finished in velvet upholstery.

The sofa came from a fine country house on the English and Scottish borders that was regularly frequented by the Welsh poet and writer Dylan Thomas. The sofa is presented in its original condition and matches the original design of the Art Deco suite before being restored to its full glory by Pointers Antiques.
