Two vintage Thetford Pulp Ware bowls.
With an attractive decorative pattern and wonderful colour.
The market town of Thetford has long been associated with paper milling, with historical references to a working paper mill in the town going back to the 17th century. The Thetford Patent Pulp Manufacturing Co was established in 1879 and continued to produce Pulp Ware through to the 1950s when the focus shifted to plastic.
During WWII secret documents were bought to the Thetford Patent Pulp Manufacturing Co from London, where they were shredded and used to create Pulp Ware products.
Makers mark to base.
